About David Bigelow
David A. Bigelow, known as DABigelow Art, was born in London, Ontario, Canada, in 1965. His artistic journey began during his high school years when he delved into the world of art. His career path split, with half of his working life dedicated to precision as a tool and die maker, meticulously handling technical drawings. The other half was spent as a technology teacher, guiding students in crafting innovative design concepts.
Residing in Hamilton, Ontario, David draws inspiration from his surroundings, melding reality and imagination through his artwork. Embracing a restricted color palette, he mixes primary pigments, painting intricate and vibrant images that portray a fusion of genuine and magical locales. His artistic vision allows him to transcend the boundaries between tangible places and serene alternate realities, fostering a sense of personal travel within the confines of his paintings.
Hamilton, often recognized as the 'hammer steel city,' surprisingly boasts an abundance of natural splendor and historical charm. With over 100 waterfalls and a myriad of scenic marvels, David employs acrylics on canvas to capture the essence of these locales. Through his art, he aims to share glimpses of these captivating sites, inviting viewers to immerse themselves and find joy in their exploration.
